The Return of the ITLA Street Law Clinic

We are thrilled to announce the return of the ITLA Street Law Clinic in a virtual capacity! Our first clinic will be held
Monday, January 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. MST
. It is our hope that much like our in-person clinic, currently on hiatus due to the pandemic, it will take place regularly on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.
Because the clinic is virtual, for the first time ever, Members from across the state will be able to volunteer at Clinic. For additional information about volunteer opportunities, please view the attached attorney guidelines. We need at least 10 attorney volunteers at each clinic, so we need you to volunteer for at least one this year.
Here is the link to the attorney volunteer registration page.
The virtual clinic will utilize students from the University of Idaho College of Law to conduct telephonic intakes with clients. The students will consult with a supervising attorney on the Zoom platform to discuss the legal issue. The students will then relay the attorney’s legal advice to the client. Attorneys will be in the main Zoom room and utilize break out rooms to work one-on-one with students. We largely see family law, landlord-tenant, and collection issues. Even if you don’t have direct experience in these areas of practice, many questions involve rules of civil procedures and more general questions. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to learn about different areas of the law.
Clients will be able to submit an online form indicating their questions the Friday prior to a clinic beginning 12:00 p.m. MT through 12:00 p.m. the day of Clinic. Clients must be available to receive an intake phone call between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the day of the clinic. And, as we are not limited geographically, we could serve persons from all over the state.
A huge thank you to the ITLA Street Law Committee, Jane Gordon, Erika Birch, and Ashley Marelius, for their leadership and enthusiasm in making the clinic work virtually!
The Street Law Clinic is a great opportunity for all of us to help our community and show that trial lawyers care. If you have any questions, please feel free to call (208) 345-1890 or email
