BOISE, ID — The Idaho Trial Lawyers Association Street Law Clinic will be honored at the Pro Bono Awards Reception, hosted by the Legal Services Corporation, on the evening of Thursday, July 26, 2018. The ITLA Street Law Clinic was nominated by Idaho Legal Aid Services, a nonprofit statewide law firm, for its dedication to the cause of expanding pro bono work. The Clinic was selected by the Legal Services Corporation Board of Directors for its continued commitment to pro bono legal services in Idaho.

The ITLA Street Law Clinic provides free, on-the-spot legal help to walk-in clients and operates on the second and fourth Monday of every month. The Clinic is held at the downtown Boise Public Library from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

“Access to Idaho’s legal system and the attorneys that play a majority role within that system can be financially prohibitive for many Idahoans. This is particularly true within our civil legal system, where there is no constitutionally protected right to counsel. We are proud of our Street Law Clinic that continues to open its doors in an effort to fill this gap and afford legal access to all Idahoans, regardless of the ability to pay” states ITLA President, Jeff Owens.

ITLA works in partnership with volunteer attorneys, Idaho Volunteer Lawyer Program, Concordia University School of Law, University of Idaho College of Law, and the Boise Public Library in the effort to help people navigate the often-daunting legal process. The clinics are staffed by law student volunteers from Concordia University School of Law and University of Idaho College of Law, as well as volunteer supervising attorneys.

Since opening its doors in 2013 the ITLA Street Law clinic has:

• Held 95 clinics
• Had 250 student volunteers and 95 supervising attorneys
• Donated 1,450 hours of time by supervising attorneys
• Served 3,235 clients
