The Idaho Legislature is now in its third week of business. Bills are continuing to be printed and heard in committees on both sides of the rotunda. Top news of the week includes the kick off of Education Week at the Capitol and the Idaho House passing a water rights settlement.

The Administrative Office of the Courts is bringing legislation to update and clarify various statuates. For more information on each of these changes, click on the bill number below. 

HB 30
CRIMES – Amends existing law to provide for the appointment or designation of an evaluation committee when a criminal defendant’s alleged incompetency may be the result of a developmental disability.

HB 31
DIVORCE – Amends existing law to revise a provision regarding when a final decree shall be entered.

HB 32
MOTOR VEHICLES – Amends existing law to provide for substance use disorders service providers and substance use disorder assessments.

HB 33
SEARCH WARRANTS – Amends existing law to provide that an oral statement shall be transcribed if requested.

HB 34
SEXUAL OFFENDER REGISTRATION – Amends existing law to revise the definition of “aggravated offense” and to revise a provision regarding applicability.
 
SB 1018
PRISONERS – Amends existing law to clarify a code reference.

SB 1019
CIVIL ACTIONS – Amends existing law to provide that an order of service must direct certain action in certain instances.
 
SB 1020
ELECTIONS – Amends existing law to revise a provision regarding when the Supreme Court must render a decision.
 
SB 1021
BAIL – Amends existing law to provide for an order withholding judgment and to provide for an infraction action.

SB 1022
JURIES – Repeals existing law relating to the penalty for evasion of jury service.
